Energy planning for developing countries: a study of Bangladesh

Book ·
OSTI ID:5562586
Drawing upon an energy-sector study of Bangladesh, this study examines the various components of investment planning in the energy sector. Following two chapters of introduction, chapters 3 to 10 give a step-by-step analysis from the agricultural and rural-sector analysis to the macroeconomic work and demand estimation and, finally, to investment planning where the overall systems analysis is put together. The book concludes with a positive evaluation of the systems approach and a warning that energy pricing strategy deserves more attention in energy planning efforts. The changing interaction between energy and agriculture in many developing countries, the human impact of changing conditions at the village level, and the need for trained personnel and information are areas the authors identify as needing further attention. 27 figures, 40 tables.
