A general expression is obtained for the second-Born-approximation correction to the cross section for scattering of electrons by nuclei of arbitrary spin. In the static case we give for the charge, magnetic-dipole, and interference corrections explicit expressions in terms of the corresponding form factors of the nucleus. The magnetic and interference corrections have been investigated in the case of backscattering of electrons by /sup 9/Be, /sup 10/B, and /sup 14/N in the framework of the shell model; it is shown that inclusion of these corrections leads to an appreciable change in the values of the parameters of the form factors of the first Born approximation.
