Determination of the number of light neutrino families from [ital e][sup +][ital e][sup [minus]][r arrow][nu][bar [nu]][gamma]

In this paper the determination of the number of the light neutrino families, [ital N][sub [nu]], obtained from the measurement of the cross-section of the radiative process [ital e][sup +][ital e][sup [minus]][r arrow][nu][bar [nu]][gamma] at LEP is discussed. The first result, [ital N][sub [nu]]=3.0[plus minus]0.4[plus minus]0.2, (73 events) was obtained from the OPAL Collaboration. A recent measurement, [ital N][sub [nu]]=3.14[plus minus]0.24[plus minus]0.12 (202 events) obtained by L3, is described in some detail.
