Manalapan increases production to 1500 tons per shift with diesel haulage

An account is given of mining a 12 ft seam in Kentucky using room and pillar working. A high-seam continuous miner averaged 1500 tons/shift during development, the machine being operated by remote control. Diesel haulage was chosen in preference to shuttle cars or continuous haulage systems.
