Covariant factorization for inelastic processes in the deuteron

A covariant factorization of cross sections for inelastic processes in relativistic bound systems is suggested. Our method offers a maximum simplification and unification of description of various inelastic processes in particles with structure. It is shown that in a fully relativistic approach the cross sections factorize exactly. The effective momentum distribution of components of a relativistic bound system is defined in a proper way, taking into account the off-shell effects and antiparticle contributions. The advantages of the method are illustrated for exclusive deuteron disintegration in the quasielastic region.
