We present a gravity-induced'' seesaw mechanism, which accommodates neutrino masses ([ital m][sub [nu]][proportional to][ital m][sup 2][sub [ital u]]/[ital M][sub [ital I]], with [ital m][sub [ital u]] the corresponding quark mass and [ital M][sub [ital I]][congruent]4[times]10[sup 11] GeV) compatible with the MSW study of the Solar neutrino deficit within the minimal supersymmetric Standard Model (the grand desert with the gauge coupling unification at [ital M][sub [ital U]][congruent]2[times]10[sup 16] GeV). We show that for large radius ([ital R][sup 2]/[alpha][prime]=O(20)) Calabi-Yau spaces, threshold corrections ensure [ital M][sup 2][sub [ital U]]=[ital M][sup 2][sub [ital C]]/O(2[ital R][sup 2]/[alpha][prime]) and the magnitude of the non-renormalizable terms in the superpotential yields [ital M][sub [ital I]]=O([ital e][sup [minus][ital R][sup 2]/[alpha][prime]])[ital M][sub [ital C]]. Here [ital M][sub [ital C]]=[ital g][times]5.2[times]10[sup 17] GeV is the scale of the tree level (genus zero) gauge coupling ([ital g]) unification.
