Spokesmen for solar industries, home builders, consumer groups, and interested parties explored with the committee the current problems and needs of the solar industry, specifically whether energy tax credits should continue and whether additional financial and legal incentives are in order. Despite progress in several technologies, there was concern that the administration's budget cuts in renewable-energy programs have damaged the US solar industry relative to foreign competitors. Background and supporting material submitted for the record follow the testimony of the 16 witnesses. (DCK)
