The full reprocessing-conditioning-recycling (RCR) concept is an integral part of the French nuclear policy, initiated in the 1970s. COGEMA operates the world`s largest reprocessing plant in La Hague, France, with an 1800 t/yr reprocessing capacity. Up to now more than 11000 t of light water reactor spent fuel has been reprocessed at this site.
