Intraresonator laser spectroscopy based on F/sub 2//sup -/:LiF color centers

This paper discusses the questions of increasing the sensitivity of intraresonator spectrometers based on color centers and reports the development of a wide-band intraresonator spectrometer based on molecular fluorine ion color centers in a lithium fluoride crystal. The crystal was grown by the Kyropoulos method and the color centers were created by irradiating the crystal with gamma radiation from a cobalt 60 source. Pumping was accomplished by a neodymium laser. The sensitivity of the spectrometer is checked against methane containing the carbon 12 isotope.
