Manufacturers of materials handling equipment for terminal facilities are considered and their equipment described briefly. The US probably leads in the river movement of coal and in the associated equipment, but foreign manufacturers appear to dominate in supplying equipment for export terminal facilities. Major developments for exhaust terminals on the West Coast for shipment of coal to Asia are expected. A floating offshore coal terminal for large ships is discussed briefly. Similarly the Louisiana offshore oil port, now in operation, is described. Finally, container traffic to Asia is discussed, including new West Coast US facilities and a rail-truck route across Mexico from Coatzacoalcos to Salina Cruz. (LTN)
