An amendment to the 1954 Atomic Energy Act and the 1974 Energy Reorganization Act authorizes $437 million for both fiscal year 1986 and 1987. The bill specifies how the funds should be divided: up to $91 million for reactor regulation to resolve safety issues, $95.78 million for inspection and enforcement, $41.66 million for material safety and safeguards, $136.57 million for regulatory research, $30.21 million for program technical support, and $41.78 million for program direction and administration. The bill also qualifies how the Nuclear Regulatory Commission may transfer and use the money.
