Double-{Lambda}, twin-{Lambda}, and single-{Lambda} hypernuclear productions for stopped {Xi}{sup {minus}} particles in {sup 12}C

The production rates per {Xi} via the {sup 12}C+{Xi}{sup {minus}}-atomic states are investigated for the {sub {Lambda}{Lambda}}{sup 12}Be+p, {sub {Lambda}{Lambda}}{sup 12}B+n, {sub {Lambda}{Lambda}}{sup 11}Be+d, {sub {Lambda}{Lambda}}{sup 10}Be+t, {sub {Lambda}{Lambda}}{sup 9}Li+{alpha}, {sub {Lambda}{Lambda}}{sup 6}He+{sup 7}Li, {sub {Lambda}{Lambda}}{sup 5}H+{sup 8}Be, {sub {Lambda}}{sup 9}Be+{sub {Lambda}}{sup 4}H, {sub {Lambda}}{sup 8}Li+{sub {Lambda}}{sup 5}He, and {sub {Lambda}}{sup 12}B+{Lambda} channels (including their excited channels) within the frame of the doorway double-{Lambda} hypernuclear picture (direct reaction picture). We found that in the stopped {Xi}{sup {minus}} reaction (1) the excited double-{Lambda} hypernuclear states for {sub {Lambda}{Lambda}}{sup 12}B, {sub {Lambda}{Lambda}}{sup 12}Be, and {sub {Lambda}{Lambda}}{sup 11}Be are produced more strongly than other double-{Lambda} hypernuclei, and (2) the production rates per {Xi} depend considerably on the atomic orbital angular momentum of the {Xi}{sup {minus}} particle absorbed into nuclei. The calculated production rates per {Xi} are discussed in comparison with the KEK-E176 experimental data. {copyright} {ital 1997} {ital The American Physical Society}
