Changes in tyrosine aminotransferase activity following exposure to gamma radiation at the early stage of embryogenesis, and the possible role of the cAMP system in this process. [Rats]

An increase was demonstrated in activity of tyrosine aminotransferase (TAT (L-tyrosine: 2-oxoglutarate aminotransferase; KF (pharmacopeia code) 2.6.1.5)) in the liver of neonate rats after exposure of embryos to 50 R gamma radiation on the 9th day of development. A change in activity of enzymes of adenosine-3',5'-monophosphate (cAMP) metabolism was demonstrated under analogous radiation conditions. The possible involvement of changes in the cAMP system in activation of TAT is discussed.
