OSTI ID:5496320
The design of a house that incorporates passive and active solar elements and energy conservation is described. The passive elements include south facing windows, skylights, clerestories, a greenhouse, and thermal mass. An active system heats space and water and utilizes a conventional distribution system. Energy conserving elements include high levels of insulation, insulating shutters, overhangs, a vestibule, operable windows and vents, earth berms, and landscaping features.
