Illinois Statewide Electric Utility Plan: Optioning resources for the future, 1992-2012. Volume 2. Main report

Technical Report ·
OSTI ID:5492209
Under the Illinois Public Utilities Act, the Department is required to prepare biennial statewide natural gas and electric utility plans. The 1992-2012 Statewide Electric Plan assesses a variety of statewide supply and demand scenarios, and develops a policy framework based on a number of specific recommendations for meeting future demand in a manner consistent with Illinois' resource planning goals. Central to the policy framework developed in the plan is the concept of resource optioning - developing the capability to deliver a variety of supply and demand resources cost-effectively, when needed and in the amounts needed in the face of demand and supply uncertainty. Volume 1, the Executive Summary, summarizes the supply and demand assessments and policy recommendations. The report presented here, Volume 2, is the MAIN Report and contains the detailed description of the supply and demand assessment, as well as ten chapters outlining the policy issues and recommendations.
