The present conference on flame and reactive system dynamics considers premixed flames, diffusion flames, turbulent combustion, constant volume combustion, spray combustion, nonequilibrium flows, and combustion diagnostics. Among the specific topics discussed are stretch effects in planar premixed hydrogen-air flames, the effect of dissociation on the near-stoichiometric burning of nondilute mixtures, the stability limits and critical size of structures in premixed flames, the burning velocities of ethanol-air and ethanol-water mixtures, transition and transport in the initial region of a turbulent diffusion flame, sound sources in turbulent combustion, flow rate and equivalence ratio influences on the thermal field of a turbulent cool flame, and the influence of turbulent motion on spark ignition. Also discussed are the time ignition of explosives and flammables from desensitized solutions, the motion of vaporizing droplets in turbulent flow, the spray characteristics of simplex swirl atomizers, the unsteady aerodynamics of chemically reacting flows past oscillating bodies, flash X-ray tomography for microsecond phenomena diagnostics, and the two-dimensional imaging of flame temperature by means of laser-induced fluorescence.
