Characteristics of single-frequency He--Ne and He--Xe lasers with microwave excitation

Journal Article · · Opt. Spectrosc. (Engl. Transl.); (United States)
OSTI ID:5484798

The power and frequency characteristics of the radiation of He--Ne and He--Xe lasers with a transverse microwave discharge (TMD) were investigated as a function of the parameters of the active medium and microwave pumping power. The transition to a single-frequency regime of operation of the He--Ne laser with a TMD (lambda = 0.63 ..mu..m) with an increase in the pressure of the gas mixture in the discharge tube was detected. The conditions of operation of a He--Xe laser on one line (lambda = 3.51 ..mu..m) were obtained. Tuning of the emission frequency of a He--Xe laser, attaining 400 MHz, was investigated.
