Embrittlement of high-alloy nickel alloys in media containing hydrogen sulfide

Journal Article · · Prot. Met. (Engl. Transl.); (United States)
OSTI ID:5474221
The embrittlement of alloys is determined on an Fe-Ni-Cr basis in an aqueous solution of 5% NaCl and 0.5% CH/sub 3/COOH under a pressure of 0.2-1.8 MPa of H/sub 2/S and up to 3.0 MPa of CO/sub 2/ at 20-110 degrees C, simulating the media of the Astrakhan gas-condensate deposit (AGCD). The thickness of the hydrogenated layer on the hardened alloys is less than 0.15 mm and decreases with rise in molybdenum content. The alloys 36NKhTYuM8, 36NKhTYuM5, and 40NKKhTYuMD show promise for use in the AGCD.
