Dispersion relations for the P-odd multipole amplitudes of the process. gamma. N. -->. N. pi

On the basis of dispersion relations for the invariant amplitudes with definite crossing properties and an approximation in which the effects of CP violation are neglected, dispersion relations are obtained for the P-odd multipole amplitudes of pion photoproduction on nucleons. It is shown that the Born part of the amplitudes for photoproduction of neutral pions on nucleons vanishes in this approximation. An analysis is made of the consequences of a resonance model in which the real parts of all the P-odd multipole amplitudes are generated by the imaginary parts of the amplitudes corresponding to excitation of the ..delta..(1233) resonance. Estimates are given for the P-odd effects in the reaction ..gamma..p..-->..p..pi../sup 0/ in the region of the ..delta..(1233) resonance.
