Eastman's turn in the road: chemicals from coal. [Acetic Anhydride]

Details are given of Eastman's 500 million lb/year acetic anhydride plant which will be completed in 1983. Coal is converted to synthesis gas in Texaco gasifiers; the gas is cryogenically separated into CO and an H/sub/2 stream which is converted to methanol for use in the process.
