Pauli forbidden states and nucleus-nucleus potentials

We discuss the tangible consequences of the existence of Pauli forbidden states of relative motion of two nuclei for the nucleus-nucleus interaction. The ranges of the influence of the Pauli forbidden states are tabulated for the systems /sup 12/C-/sup 12,13,14/C, /sup 14/C-/sup 14/C, /sup 12,14/C-/sup 16/O, /sup 16/O-/sup 16/O, ..cap alpha..-/sup 28/Si, and ..cap alpha..-/sup 40/Ca.
