We have derived and numerically solved a set of equations for the superconducting critical temperature T/sub c/ in the case of the separable model of electronic energy dependence in the electron-phonon coupling function ..cap alpha../sup 2/F(epsilon,epsilon';..cap omega..) = (1+a(epsilon))..cap alpha../sup 2/(..cap omega..)F(..cap omega..)(1+a(epsilon')) analogous to the well-known separable model for anisotropy in ..cap alpha../sup 2/F. It is shown that to a good approximation the (epsilon, epsilon') dependence of ..cap alpha../sup 2/F can be ignored in calculating T/sub c/ provided the electronic density of states N(epsilon) is replaced by N(epsilon)(1+a(epsilon))/sup 2/. We also consider the effect of scattering by normal impurities. This scattering effectively smears out the (epsilon, epsilon') dependence of ..cap alpha../sup 2/F which is analogous to the smearing of the structure in N(epsilon) by impurity scattering.
