Effect of changes in. cap alpha. /sup 2/(. cap omega. )F(. cap omega. ) on the zero-temperature energy gap of a superconductor

Journal Article · · Phys. Rev., B: Condens. Matter; (United States)

Accurate numerical calculations of the functional derivatives partial..delta../sub 0//partial..cap alpha../sup 2/(..cap omega..)F(..cap omega..) and partial(2..delta../sub 0//k/sub B/T/sub c/)/partial..cap alpha../sup 2/(..cap omega..)F(..cap omega..) for several isotropic or ''dirty'' superconductors are presented as a function of phonon frequency ..cap omega... The universal shape of these functions should prove useful in correlating changes in the zero-temperature gap edge ..delta../sub 0/ and the ratio 2..delta../sub 0//k/sub B/T/sub c/ (T/sub c/ is the transition temperature) with small changes in the electron-phonon spectral function ..cap alpha../sup 2/(..cap omega..)F(..cap omega..).
