Parity-violating decays of charmed baryons in a quark model

Journal Article · · Phys. Rev., D; (United States)

We study parity-violating nonleptonic decays of charmed baryons as arising through single-quark and two-quark transitions. We notice that single-quark transition acquires null contribution from the Glashow-Iliopoulos-Maiani (GIM) weak Hamiltonian (20''+84). 20'' dominance in the GIM model forbids B(3) ..-->.. B(8)+P(3*) and B(3) ..-->.. B(6)+P(8) decays in two-quark transitions. We also include 45, 45* components in the weak Hamiltonian, which may occur through unconventional currents. Only ..pi../sup +/-emitting decays then occur through single-quark transitions. Thus the weak decays of charmed baryons arise predominantly through two-quark transitions.
