The diffusion coefficients of Nb and Sn in coarse grain size (60 {mu}m) and fine grain size (10 {mu}m) Nb{sub 3}Sn are being measured over the range from 900 to 1650 C. Radioactive tracer technique is being employed, using Nb{sup 94} and Sn{sup 113}. In the fine grained Nb{sub 3}Sn, the diffusion coefficients at 1640 C for Nb and Sn are 1.6 {times} 10{sup {minus}9} cm{sup 2}/sec {plus minus} 15% and 9.4 {times} 10{sup {minus}8} cm{sup 2}/sec {plus minus} 15%, respectively. The corresponding values for Nb and Sn in the coarse grained material are 7.1 {times} 10{sup {minus}10} cm{sup 2}/sec {plus minus} 15% and 2.8 {times} 10{sup {minus}9} cm{sup 2}/sec {plus minus} 15%, respectively. The values for Nb imply a lattice diffusivity of 5.3 {times} 10{sup {minus}10} cm{sup 2}/sec and a grain boundary diffusivity of 3.5 {times} 10{sup {minus}6} cm{sup 2}/sec. The diffusivities for Sn are inconsistent with simple concepts of grain boundary transport. These results are discussed with regard to diffusional flow and transformation kinetics in A15 compounds.
