Development and evaluation of a cob salvaging system

A cob salvaging system using a pneumatic separation unit and collection in a trailing wagon was tested. About 80% of the available cobs were collected, with 93% cobs, by dry weight, in the mixture. The system required less than 12 kW to operate. The suspension velocities of the cobs was found to overlap with those of the stalks, making complete pneumatic separation impractical.
