Results from a VLA search for OH absorption at 1665 and 1667 MHz in the nucleus of NGC 1275 are presented. No absorption in the low-velocity system (heliocentric velocity 5320 km/s) is found within a 2200 km/s bandpass. An upper limit of 0.0008 is placed on the apparent optical depth of any absorption feature in the low-velocity system. A model-dependent upper limit to the mass of molecular gas in NGC 1275 of 6.2 x 10 to the 8th solar masses is proposed which is consistent with a value determined for the total mass accreted by NGC 1275. 41 references.
