Very fast residue to mixed-radix conversion algorithm for residue number applications

Book ·
OSTI ID:5436627

A new parallel mixed-radix conversion algorithm for operations in the residue number system (RNS) which utilises the maximum parallelism and pipelining of architecture to achieve high throughput rate and very short conversion time is presented. The new algorithm has a conversion time of two clock cycles for moduli sets consisting of up to 15 moduli, where the clock cycle is defined as the time required for a table look-up operation. It is also shown that this algorithm can be implemented with ECL ICS to achieve a conversion time of 50 nanoseconds and a throughput rate of 40 mhz for an rns having 150 bits dynamic range. 6 references.
