Guyed tower design and analysis. Part 3. Preliminary calculation procedures

Journal Article · · Pet. Eng. Int.; (United States)
OSTI ID:5431875
Realistic design of deepwater guyed-tower platforms must include calculations of structural compliant motion, structural deflections (called P-delta effects), cable response, and foundation nonlinearities. These nonlinear requirements call for knowledge of the actual force history on the structure rather than an instantaneous maximum design force distribution on the structure, thus greatly complicating and expanding the design process. Part 3 covers the preliminary static, preliminary guy, and modal analyses involved in designing the towers.
