Effect of cladding surface thermocouples on the quench behavior of an electrical heater rod

Technical Report ·
OSTI ID:5424504
Tests have been conducted to evaluate the effect of cladding external surface thermocouples on the quench behavior of a single swaged electrical heater rod. The tests were successfully completed in the Blowdown Loop of the LOFT Test Support Facility (LTSF) at the Idaho National Engineering Laboratory (INEL). The results of the tests indicated that cladding external surface thermocouples significantly increase the cooldown rate and reduce the quench time of the swaged heater rod.
