The objectives of the Photovoltaics Program at EPRI are: to encourage the development of photovoltaic (PV) power systems for use within U.S. electric utility systems, and to maintain a firm understanding of the requirements for and status of photovoltaic systems in energy-significant utility applications. This paper provides a summary of EPRI sponsored PV research in 1983, and places this research in perspective relative to utility requirements for new generation.
