Photovoltaic systems assessment: an integrated perspective

This report presents an integrated perspective on the status of and requirements for photovoltaic (PV) systems intended for bulk electricity supply within US electric utilities. Current status is described in the context of laboratory research results, balance-of-system studies and field test results. The requirements assessment is based on comparison with new generation using conventional resources. Baseline cost/performance tradeoffs are presented for fixed flat plate modules and two axis tracking concentrating arrays.
