High-spin states in {sup 50}Cr have been investigated with the reaction {sup 24}Mg({sup 32} S,{alpha}2p) at 130 MeV bombarding energy, using the 4 {pi} GASP {gamma}-ray array plus the 4 {pi} charged-particle detector ISIS. The level scheme has been extended up to the 18{sup +} state at 17.954 MeV excitation energy. Several high-spin states which deexcite by emitting high energy {gamma}-rays have been identified. A second backbending is observed at I=18{h_bar}, well above the 14{sup +} state which exhausts the total spin available in a pure (f{sub 7/2 }){sup 10} configuration. {copyright} {ital 1997} {ital The American Physical Society}
