Incineration of sludge and refuse with waste heat recovery

Journal Article · · J. Water Pollut. Control Fed.; (United States)
OSTI ID:5415701
The city of Glen Cove, N.Y., is constructing a unique incinerator that will burn refuse and wastewater sludge. Heat produced in the incinerator will be used to produce enough steam and electricity to meet the entire power needs of the wastewater treatment plant and incinerator. The co-burning systems are described. Although the Glen Cove plant is an excellent demonstration project, it is too small and too labor-intensive to be as cost effective as a waste heat recovery project. (2 diagrams)
