Ehv corona studies confirm lab investigations

Studies conducted at Laval University in a concentric cylinder setup on corona loss on power transmission lines are described. Operation of Hydro-Quebec's 315 kV and 700 kV lines have confirmed the laboratory investigations. One year of experience on the 700 kV system shows corona losses slightly exceeding the loss reported on the 315 kV system.
