A survey was taken at Industrial Products Factory, Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company, Akron, Ohio to determine worker exposure to N-nitroso compounds, especially with regard to airborne volatile nitrosamines in the rubber industry. N-nitroso compound was not detected in any bulk samples at a detection limit of 0.5 micrograms/g. The carcinogen N-nitrosodimethylamine was identified by HPLC/TEA and confirmed by GC/TEA in all samples.
