Principles of charged particle acceleration

Book ·
OSTI ID:5400823
This is a text on the physics of charged particle acceleration and transport, designed for senior and graduate courses in accelerators, nuclear physics, particle physics, ion implantation and electron microscopy. Equal emphasis is given to low-energy and high-energy accelerators, so that the material is relevant to a wide variety of applications. The book treats finite difference methods and analog methods and shows how to use analytic methods to solve Laplace's Equations. It provides a detailed discussion of the role of ferromagnetic materials in accelerators, and a review of ferromagnetic materials and permanent magnets.
