Technical Report ·
OSTI ID:5399908

The purpose of this study was to determine the type of monitoring system which should be installed on the proposed Ultra-Large Crude Carrier (ULCC). To determine the solution to the problem, a broad picture is presented. The ULCC is described in detail, with particular attention given to its monitoring systems. For comparison, the previous experience of the NS Savannah and the present experience of the U.S. Navy are brough forth. Land-based power plants are also discussed. Then, the equipment itself is assessed through actual experimental work on the type of monitoring equipment that is proposed for the nuclear ULCC.
