Stability of spontaneous symmetry breaking in a class of SO(10) models with the B210R Higgs field is analyzed for the most general Higgs potential. It is shown that the sum-of-square form of the potential is generally a useful starting construction. It is found that a physically interesting scenario of symmetry breaking SO(10){r arrow}{ital SU}(2){sub {ital L}}{times}{ital SU}(2){sub {ital R}}{times}{ital SU}(3){times}{ital U}(1)=={ital H}{sub 2231}, i.e., to a nonmaximal little group, can satisfy stability requirements.
