Title: Relative 3s-italic spectroscopic strength in /sup 206/Pb and /sup 208/Pb studied with the (e-italic,e-italic/sup '/p) knockout reaction

Journal Article · · Phys. Rev. Lett.; (United States)

A high-resolution (e-italic,e-italic'p-italic) measurement has been performed to determine the relative occupation probability of the 3s-italic/sub 1/2/ proton orbits in /sup 206/Pb and /sup 208/Pb. The knockout strength to the ground state of /sup 205/Tl is 31(3)% smaller than that of /sup 207/Tl. Appreciable fragmentation of l-italic = 0 knockout strength is observed in /sup 205/Tl, whereas all l-italic = 0 strength in the excitation range up to 5.5 MeV resides in the ground state of /sup 207/Tl. Up to this energy the summed 3s-italic strength is found to be 16(9)% smaller in /sup 206/Pb than in /sup 208/Pb.
