Promising results are given by the addition of polymers to the water which is injected into a Colombian Formation. The injection volume, about 55,000 bpd for 54 wells, is the largest of many to use this advanced method of secondary recovery. The field is the state-owned company's, Ecopetrol, known as La Cira-Infantas, developed by Tropical Oil Co. prior to 1952, the year in which the concession reverted to the State of Colombia. At the end of this past year, the NW. part of the La Cira field had produced 17.8 million bbl of crude which could be attributed to the injection of 148 million bbl of water. The primary production in this section--before the injection of water-- ran about 2,250 bpd. Now, as a result of the water injection, the production has risen to 8,100 bpd. The company has plans to inject adjacent areas with the polymer solution, which will definitely increase the secondary production of these fluids.
