A method for consolidating an incompetent formation is described in which a consolidating fluid such as a solution of a thermosetting epoxy resin is placed in the casing adjacent to the formation to be consolidated. The casing is then perforated within this interval and the consolidating fluid is immediately forced through the perforations into the adjacent formation. By this method, intimate contact between the formation material and the consolidating agent is achieved and the formation is effectively stabilized. (3 claims)
