Radical species profiles for a methane--oxygen--argon flame. [O/sub 1/H/sub 1/OH/sub 1/CH/sub 3/, CHO]

Technical Report ·
OSTI ID:5376377
Concentration profiles of low-pressure, slightly lean CH/sub 4/-O/sub 2/-Ar flames have been measured in situ for the following unstable species: oxygen atom, hydrogen atom, hydroxyl radical, methyl radical, and formyl radical. The observed maximum mole fractions were 2.0 x 10/sup -2/ for H, 1.1 x 10/sup -2/ for OH, and 0.8 x 10/sup -2/ for O; the maxima occurred in the recombination zone. Methyl and formyl radicals have maximum mole fractions in the reaction zone of 2.2 x 10/sup -3/ and 6 x 10/sup -5/, respectively.
