In this paper methods of compactification of 10-dimensional heterotic strings in a two-dimensional and four-dimensional stage in a fermionic type formalism are discussed. Starting from an eight-dimensional fermionic model, the consequences of a further twisting of some of the boson-RNS fermion pairs on the structure and symmetry of such models are examined.
