Small oxygen isotope shift in YBa/sub 2/Cu/sub 3/O/sub 7/

Journal Article · · Phys. Rev. B: Condens. Matter; (United States)
We find the oxygen isotope shift in YBa/sub 2/Cu/sub 3/O/sub 7/ is 0.18 +- 0.04 K with approx.85% /sup 18/O substitution, in disagreement with a recent published result. The methods used to measure a small shift in T/sub c/ of a ceramic oxide superconductor are discussed: sample preparation, reversible isotope substitution, measurement at low field, and control of temperature drift. We find ..cap alpha.. = 0.019 +- 0.005 in the relation T/sub c/proportionalM/sup -//sup ..cap alpha../. .AE
