Backward angle anomaly in inelastic alpha scattering from calcium isotopes

Journal Article · · Phys. Rev., C; (United States)
Anomalous angular distributions of inelastic ..cap alpha..-particle scattering from /sup 40/Ca, /sup 42/Ca, /sup 44/Ca, and /sup 48/Ca have been analyzed with a parity dependent potential model. The results of a coupled channel analysis with the potential that was determined in the study of backward angle anomaly in elastic scattering are in significantly better agreement with the experimental angular distributions at 24 and 29 MeV than those obtained with the ordinary optical model.
