In the Yakutenergo Power System a central power station based on gas turbine plants has four GT-25-700 gas turbine plants, which have been in operation since 1970, and two GT-35 gas turbine plants, which have been in operation since 1977. The relatively small volume of building and assembly work in construction of a gas turbine central power station, its high flexibility, as well as experience with operation of this station have demonstrated the advisability of using gas turbine plants in isolated power systems of the remote regions of the USSR. Boosting of GT plant by introducing water or steam into the high pressure circuit considerably improves the performance, and enables the design output to be maintained within a wide range of variation in outside air temperature. The use of steam to boost the plant, obtained by heat from the exhaust gases, considerably improves plant efficiency.
