Elevated-temperature mechanical properties of Transage 175 alloy (Ti-2. 7 Al-13V-7 Sn-2Zr)

Transage 175 alloy (Ti-2.7 Al-13V-7 Sn-2Zr) in the form of extruded 0.5-in (12-mm) bar stock was evaluated by the following tests: short time tensile at room temperature, 500 and 800/sup 0/F (260 and 427/sup 0/C); creep-rupture at 800/sup 0/F; and smooth bar, axial, strain-controlled and load-controlled, A = +1.0,R = O, low-cycle fatigue at 800/sup 0/F. Short-time tensile and creep-rupture strengths were found to be superior to Ti-6Al-2Sn-4Zr-2Mo. Total strain range for 10/sup 5/-cycle runout was 1.22%. Maximum stress for 10/sup 5/-cycle runout at 800/sup 0/F (427/sup 0/C) was 120 psi (827 MPa). 6 references, 8 figures, 5 tables.
