RoCa CHP plant saves 30 million cu m per year of natural gas fuel

The Dutch Rotterdam-Capelle combined power and heat plant, designed to generate electric power for the public grid system and at the same time supply hot water to 15,000 houses, is discussed. The plant consists of two gas turbines driving a generator, a heat recovery hot water generator, and an auxiliary hot water generator for peak operations. Compared to the natural gas consumption of individual central heating systems for 15,000 houses, the cogeneration plant is capable of saving 29.5 million cubic meters of natural gas every year.
