World coal outlook: a reassessment

This study represents an update and revision to two earlier reports on the World Coal Outlook to the Year 2000 released in October 1981 and March 1983. Like those earlier analyses, this report provides forecasts on a region basis for each major end-use application for coal, including electric power generation, industrial and other thermal applications, and coking coal. Also included are trade forecasts for thermal and coking coal. Additionally in this year's analysis is an extended assessment of the performance of the world coal markets over a 20 year period covering 1963 through 1983. Further, the analysis includes sensitivity assessments of the key explanatory variables used in producing the forecasts. This allows the opportunity to formulate alternative projections. Five appendices contain regional supply/demand and import/export data.
